Woven wrapping may look like something to get hot and bothered about to the casual observer, but there are ways to keep cool when you’re wrapping. Here is our handy list of things to consider when wrapping in warm weather.

Carefully select your carry:

Single layer woven wrap carries can be a great option for hot weather and summer carrying:

All of these have just the one layer of fabric over the baby and mostly not too much over you.

Shorter wraps mean less fabric. Browse our woven wraps to hire for our lovely short wraps.

Co-ordinate your colours

Darker colours absorb heat, so choose lighter coloured woven wraps in warm weather, to reflect it.
We have a whole selection of light coloured wraps, for example:

There are many more to choose from too!

Lightweight woven wraps for warm weather

We have some very light weight woven wraps, and these are often cooler, so a great option for warm weather. Calin Bleu wraps are a gauze wrap, rather than a traditional woven wrap fabric and we have a size 6 in Summer Sky and Scarlet

Favour the right fibre for woven wraps in warm weather

Consider what your wrap is made from. What is the blend?

Cotton is present in most wrap blends in our library, and it is a breathable fibre. In a light weave this is a lovely warm weather fabric.

Linen: a classic summer clothing fabric. This is often woven in a thinner weave. This creates a very supportive, relatively cool fabric. Linen and cotton are often blended.

Hemp has similar properties to linen, and can also create a cooler fabric for hot weather

Silk can feel light and cool, whilst being very strong.

Tencel, a fibre made from wood pulp, can be very cool and lightweight, and a lovely woven wrap fibre blend for warm weather carrying..

Even wool, which is often considered to be a winter jumper staple, can be a good summer wrap option in a lightweight weave in a light colour. It wicks moisture away from the skin avoiding you from feeling too hot and sweaty.

Of course, in addition to all of this, the general warm weather babywearing tips apply too. So if you’re hoping to keep your baby woven wrapped up, but cool in the warm weather this summer, we’ve got it covered!
