Why we love it
The TwinGo is a leader in the twin-specific buckle carrier market. The clever design of the TwinGo carrier allows the user to have either two separate carriers or one single carrier carrying two babies with one set of shoulder straps. This means that the TwinGo can be far more comfortable for many families as there aren’t two sets of bulky straps or two bulky waistbands to contend with.
Both of the TwinGo carriers come with large pockets on them which serve two purposes. The pockets are large enough to hold nappies, wipes, wallet and keys and allow a hands free trip for twin parents. When you aren’t using the carriers the pockets become the storage. The carriers fold neatly into the pockets turning a large carrier into two small packages!
The standard TwinGo is suitable from around 4/6 months – 2 years so it has a long life. TwinGo has produced accessories to extend the use even further. You can use the carriers separately as front carriers from birth with the infant insert. The panel extenders can mean that the TwinGo can be comfortably used past 3 years old and beyond. If you prefer tie straps on your carrier rather than buckles TwinGo also offer Meh Dai style straps!
Here at It’s A Sling Thing we have several TwinGo carriers for rent with some of the accessories available too.
Tips and Tricks
Be aware of the developmental stage of your babies
The TwinGo is suitable for front carries from birth with the insert as two separate carriers. Your baby will need the insert until can sit comfortably in the width of the carrier and still freely bend their knees, which is usually between 4 and 6 months. TwinGo advise that it can be used in tandem mode from 4 months, however you may find that you can get a more secure carry once the baby you want on your back is sitting unaided.
Using the TwinGo as two single carriers
You can use the TwinGo as two single carriers using the attachment carrier straps, which are not used in tandem mode. These turn the attachment carrier into a full buckle carrier. The two TwinGo carriers can then both be used like any other buckle carrier to carry front or back.
Getting back baby in
Start on the front! Start with the base carrier of the TwinGo at the front of your body and position your baby carefully and centrally. Once they are seated comfortably you can securely hip scoot them onto your back, secure the straps and then be free to seat your other baby in the attachment carrier!
Adjusting the waist of the TwinGo
One of the most common questions about the TwinGo is how the waist can be adjusted. You can wear the waistbands on the TwinGo either as one continuous waistband or as two separate waistbands. Should your babies be different ages or very different sizes you may wish to keep the waistbands separate so you can have them at different heights. If you are very petite keeping the waistbands separate may also help you get a tight fit.
When joining the waistbands on the TwinGo, if you are finding it too long, check for the waistband flaps which can be folded in to make it smaller. These flaps are on either end of the waistbands and you can fold in any number of them to have a lot of flexibility on the length of the waistband!
