Introducing the Ergobaby Adapt

Ergobaby is one of the most well-known carrier brands around. For many years their Ergobaby Original carrier has been one of the most popular sling purchases for new parents. In recent years they have added a fantastic selection of new carriers to their range and the Ergobaby Adapt is one of these.

The Adapt doesn’t need an infant insert, and has a base and panel that are adjustable using Velcro and press-studs. It is also the first Ergobaby to feature straps which can easily be worn either crossed or straight. Suitable from birth until 2+ years, it comes in both the standard fabric and cool air mesh versions.

Ergobaby Adapt: features and functionality

Tips and Tricks

Panel adjustment

For smaller babies in the Ergobaby Adapt simply narrowing the base of the panel doesn’t give the optimal fit. These ingenious press studs gather the panel to avoid small babies slumping. They ensure the panel provides support for small babies.

Adjusting the carrier

The base of the Ergobaby Adapt features a velcro panel in the waistband with two movable tabs. There are three marked positions for the tabs. However you can position the tabs between recommended setting to achieve a perfect fit. Your baby must be able to bend their knees freely in the panel so be aware of how wide you have it set! You can also adjust the neck panel to support your baby fully.

Crossed or rucksack style straps

The Ergobaby Adapt offers the options to wear the carrier with either crossed straps or rucksack style straps. This gives you the opportunity to try both options to see which suits your body.

Crossed straps can spread baby’s weight throughout the torso.  This position is especially useful if you have narrow shoulders or a short torso. The long padded straps can mean that for petite people it is not possible to get the carrier tight enough when using the rucksack strap position.

People with broader shoulders are likely to find either configuration comfortable!

Fastening the chest strap

The Ergobaby OMNI 360 can be worn rucksack style. Some people find it tricky to get the chest strap fastened or positioned comfortably. Often people find that they are most comfortable with the chest strap level with their shoulder blades.
