1. Choosing Your Difficulty

- Raid Finder (LFR): This is the easiest difficulty. It uses an automated matching system to group twenty-five players. Boss health and damage are low, and many complex mechanics are removed. It is the perfect way to see the story and learn the basic layout of the raid.
- Normal Difficulty: Designed for organized groups of ten to thirty players. Boss mechanics are fully active, and players must communicate and coordinate to survive. The health and damage of enemies scale dynamically based on the number of players in your group.
- Heroic Difficulty: This is the standard challenge level for active guild groups. Bosses hit much harder, and failing to execute mechanics correctly will often result in an instant wipe for your team. This difficulty rewards powerful epic gear and achievement trophies.
- Mythic Difficulty: The ultimate PvE challenge. Mythic raids have a strict twenty-player limit and feature extra, highly complex boss mechanics. Perfect execution, high character power, and precise coordination are required to win.
2. Preparing Your Character
Before you join a raid group, you must ensure your character is fully prepared. Doing your homework before the first pull saves time and prevents frustration for your entire team.

- Prioritize Survival Over Damage: A dead player deals zero damage and provides zero healing. If a boss ability forces you to stop attacking and move to a safe zone, prioritize movement immediately.
- Focus High-Priority Targets: Many boss fights feature “adds,” which are secondary minions summoned during the encounter. Never ignore these targets. When a minion spawns, switch your attacks to it immediately to defeat it before it can cast dangerous spells.
- Use Your Defensive Cooldowns Early: Do not wait until your health is dangerously low to use your damage reduction abilities. If you see the boss starting a massive, high-damage cast that affects the whole group, activate your defensive shields early to help your healers.
4. How to Find a Raid Group
If you do not have a dedicated guild, you can use the built-in Group Finder tool to find a raid group:
- Create Your Own Group: This is the best way to avoid gatekeeping. Put a clear description in your title, such as “Normal Progression, Chill Run, All Welcome.” This attracts friendly players who are patient and willing to work together.
- Join a Guild: Raiding with the same group of people every week is the most satisfying way to play. Look for a guild on your server that matches your schedule and skill goals. A stable guild community makes progression much more fun.
